Tom Cruise: I’ll cheer up David Beckham after troubled season
Tom Cruise has pledged to help cheer up close friend David Beckham after his disappointing first few months with the LA Galaxy football team.
David has been plagued by injury since moving to the US in July and the team failed to make the MLS Cup Playoffs this weekend after losing to Chicago Fire.
Speaking at the London premiere of his new film Lions for Lambs yesterday, Tom told BBC Radio 5 Live that cheering up David will be one of his first missions when he returns to Los Angeles after his current round of promotional activities: “We will go out and fly some airplanes or race some cars or something like that.”
“I’ll talk to Victoria and see if she’s all right with that. But we’ll have some fun.”
“I know what a competitor [David] is and I have great admiration for him as an athlete, as a father, and as a husband.”
“The guy works so hard, I know personally how dedicated this guy is and how committed.”
